Charlie Kirk situation type deal

I’m not sure if I should post this but I am. I love debating, I love learning, I love being shown a new side, I love seeing other people learn that what they’ve believed has been a lie when proven facts have been given. Today people have become so stubborn and pig headed that with all the facts and data, they still deny the truth because they want to believe what they’ve been told for so long. Yes it’s hard to swallow your pride and admit defeat but I feel that’s growth. I feel it’s important in a debate to be prepared. What I see now is people reacting on emotions and feelings. When they’re proven wrong they lash out like children because they didn’t get their way, their ideas and their truths have all been proven false and picked apart. For some people their beliefs are who they are, their personality, the very essence of their being. To reluctantly quote H20 “Before you start waving flags, you better know what they stand for”.

I’ve realized people like to be victims now, I don’t understand that at all. Not only that, they gatekeep being the victim, no one else is allowed to have any struggle in their lives, only them. Listen, I grew up eating hot dogs and beans for dinner and half a can of pineapple niblets for dessert, no cable, watching the same VHS over and over again, electric shut off, water shut off all the time, we didn’t have it easy. Who doesn’t know the struggle of taking an empty shampoo bottle, filling it with water to get the very last remnants of shampoo, sitting in the back of your moms car at a gas station as she buys one dollars worth of gas with pennies and nickles. I am not a fence walker, I’m open minded. There are something’s I don’t agree with and there are some things that I stand firm on. I like Charlie Kirk and there were a lot of things I did not agree with him on. The video I posted above is a clear case that I agreed more with the stance the woman he was debating was making than his side. I feel this is one of his best debates because she stayed calm and got her point across. He’s the one that responded with statements showing his weak opinion on the topic. She did make fun of him out of frustration but still stayed calm. He tried to catch her and make her answer questions she didn’t want to answer, instead she said I don’t know what the right answer is. It was honest. I like how she dismantled his idea of the word good. “Good is a question of ethics not education” I believe that too. The bigger picture of good is subjective to the person believing that what they’re doing is good, just and pure. Her idea of education was her opinion and I see where she’s coming from, she wants her taxes to fund education but she doesn’t have a say on where her money goes. I don’t think she’s stupid for wanting free education, for people looking to expand their mind and learn. She’s not an idiot for feeling that way.

I took my daughter on vacation and while we were staying at a hotel I met a guy waiting for the Holiday Inn Express free breakfast. He was a teacher from Maine visiting Pennsylvania for his sisters wedding. I asked what he taught at the college and he said he taught a course in empathy. I said “ that’s interesting because in my opinion empathy can’t be taught”. His eyes opened up and he said “ you’re absolutely right and that’s something I struggle with as a teacher”. He said it was a tiny college with only about 200 students and the people that choose to go there search out this school because empathy is already ingrained in them. He did say that once in awhile he’ll have a student that he can tell isn’t genuine and faking it. He said it’s rare but it does happen and they’re just looking for the degree in the class to add to their resume. He said it hurts his heart when the disingenuous are in his class and are faking their way through. I just thought that was interesting.

I am sad Charlie Kirk was assassinated. He challenged young minds and all minds to think more. His religious beliefs and convictions didn’t align with mine but it worked for him and his family, in the end that’s all that matters. They couldn’t beat him in a debate so they had to silence him. I don’t feel what he said was hate speech, or misogynistic or anti anything. I think those were his opinions and he explained why he felt the way he did. I dont think it ever came from hate, he believed It came from facts and information. I also don’t feel that what Jimmy Kimmel said was hate speech either. Turn the channel if you don’t like it. People calling for violence needs to stop. Empathy can’t be taught but I think a lot of people in this world should try to fake it and go to that teachers class.
