We are truly blessed for our little one. 147 days in the NICU and her only issue is GERD (severe acid reflux). Before we left the hospital they were talking about giving her a G-tube or giving her surgery to adjust the size of her lower esophageal sphincter to help with the issue. Thank god we advocated because it seems theyre pretty quick to put the little ones under the knife. We talked to a 20 year nurse, and he said the change of care has become scary, not allowing the children to fight through these events. He told us too many kids in the NICU are getting a tracheaotomy and unnecessary surgery. She made it out and fought for her life every single day. Now the next scary thing is our Bill.
Yes, that is over $3,000,000, Million. Melissas friend started a gofundme for us. We are not the type of people to ask for help, we told her if she wanted to do it for us, we'd appreciate it but we'd never beg or ask people for money. We let her be in control and let her run it without our hand or input in it at all. She raised over $8,000 and it helped us exponentially! We were able to pay some of her CHOP bill. This was truly a blessing, everyone who donated , we could never thank them enough, no words could express our appreciation. We have pretty amazing health insurance so a major chunk of it is knocked out. We'll be ok. We are so happy to start this new life with her!
