Tried something new this year and took a 15 inch drill bit and manually vertidrained problem areas on greens that hold water. Used a generator and some busted ass drill.
in that area, we did find a lot of clay deposits.
no mess, just lifted the board off the green and dumped away from the playing aread.just made a grid and drilled the cross sections
During the summer, we've realized that these areas are holding more water than they usually do. I wonder if we hit drainage and corrupted the pipe. Its interesting. The real issue is these are California greens and the person who was overseeing the building of the greens with low areas didnt add enough fill to make it compliant with the rest of the green.
