Alec Kelly drawing

1995 The Beatles were on TV with their Anthology. I think everyone got into the hype around this time, including me. I enjoyed them, I listened to my moms vinyl in 1994. I even bought a Beatles key chain from when they played Candlestick Park. Why? I dont know, I had $7 and money to burn at 13 on the Ocean City boardwalk. I had a friend back then who was in to the Beatles about as much as I was. When that Anthology aired it was awesome to get so much history. It really turned my fair weather enjoyment to favorite band over night. Well one day Alec came over my house, on my front porch and drew this freehand. I dont know how, I dont know why, but I found it and was blown away seeing it again. At the time I wasnt impressed at all for some reason but damn that is some talent.

Geocaching [Accidental find]

Walking my dog and saw this thing in the tree.
I thought it was some GPS cache game and it was. Was gonna take it but decided against it after reading the letter inside
I took a picture of Kimmi Gibbler and a picture of Atlantic City. I know the rules of take something leave something.
There was a dog bone in there, so I gave it to Kimmi and left a fish eye lens for a smartphone. Thats all I had on me. I know the next person who finds it is really gonna be excited
I wrote my blog address and wrote that I left the fish eye lens. Kinda cool but I dont think I'll be participating in the cache game.

Ten Acres Cafe Baseball Field [Absecon]

Back in the early 90s there was a giant maintained field behind a restaurant called Ten Acres. Hidden in the corner was this small "sandlot" style baseball field. We tried to play there but it just wasnt as fun as playing on normal fields.
I walked back there the other day and saw the sign and the telephone poles but the field was completely over grown. Found some pictures of the old sign and shirt

Absecon Skate Park [1994]

This post is about the "Absecon Skate Park". I never knew or even heard about this place. People that I went to school with supposedly built it. I was told they would grab any wood they could find and drag out to an abandon tennis court in the woods. Steve took me back there and I took some pictures of the area.
The area used to be a community pool or a private club for the Absecon Shores, Im not positive. I asked my mom for some info about it and she said in the 60s it was popular. She said she never went but a lot of her friends worked there. When the bay was at high tide they would open a gate using this lever to allow water into the pool area. When the pool was filled, they would close the gate.
I kicked some dirt away and found this depth warning.
I guess this was the area everyone would lay out, eat lunch, whatever.
here are some rotting stairs along the side
We walked to the back through all these weeds and trees and found this rusted fence. We walked around till we found an entrance and walked in.
some of the ramps were still up. It was pretty awesome... If anyone has any stories about this place please post them. Im very interested in learning more about it. All the years living in Absecon, this was the first time I ever went there and checked it out.
